Are there different types of Insomnia?
How do you know if your Insomnia Problem is serious?
An Insomnia problem may vary from short term to long term:
• Insomnia can be short term (Transient)- which lasts anywhere from a single night to a few weeks. About 25% of the Population complain of this type of insomnia.
• It can be on and off (Intermittent) insomnia which comes and goes from time to time.
Chronic insomnia (Continual) which lasts at least 3 nights a week for several months. This can indicate something serious and can take a toll on the overall health and function of a person’s mind and body and definitely needs some type of medical or holistic attention.
• Secondary insomnia is usually caused by a medical condition such as, stress, drugs, anxiety, or a mental health problem. Some suffer from sleep apnea or a poor sleep environment.
